POINT TO THE POSITIVE! Welcome to ShowYourClass.com. Our School District enjoys INCREDIBLE COMMUNITY SUPPORT and this site Points to the Positive. While teachers,
students, and the community may hesitate to "blow their own horn", I believe that if it's TRUE
and it HELPS OUR STUDENTS with their perception of our school
AND THEIR PERFORMANCE, well ... somebody has got to Point to the Positive!   Dan Peel

COMMON TIME - Civil War Hard Tack & Donuts!
    ECONOMICS/HISTORY EXTENSION EDIBLE PROJECTS
Mr. Peel - An INTERDISCIPLINARY Approach -

Students learn how to research stocks & mutual funds & use their internet search skills (SOCIAL STUDIES - Mr. PEEL) to select a "Buy and Hold Stock", a "Get Rich Quick Stock", and a Mutual Fund (they Dollar Cost Average into the Mutual Fund). Then they use the Excel skills that they learned in Champion MATH Team Coach Ms. KAYE'S class to create elaborate graphs showing Price Movement and Profit (Loss). Students chart their stocks every day and begin work on their History Extension projects. At the end of the term we compare which method of investing worked best. LANGUAGE ARTS research skills learned in Mr. POREMBA'S class are used to investigate a particular aspect of American History that is not covered in the regular Social Studies curriculum. STUDENT PRESENTATIONS include Digital Imaging Skills learned from Ms. SMITH in INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY and special life skills learned from Miss AHN in FAMILY & CONSUMER SCIENCES.The Stock Market Gametm gives students the chance to invest hypothetical dollars in a real-time portfolio. They think they're playing a game. Actually, they're learning economic and financial concepts they'll use for the rest of their lives. OVER 12,000 students play the game in Illinois. Itasca District #10 Seventh Graders in Mr. Peel’s Social Studies Class have placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the state EIGHTEEN times in TWENTY years! Statistically, with just 1% of the students in the game, F.E. Peacock Middle School students should win only once every 100 years.

CONGRATULATIONS Peacock class of 2002 !
You successfully painted the 36 foot by 20 foot World Map with flying colors!(On the blacktop, not your classmates or clothing.)

We used the world map in our Olympics Interdisciplinary Unit AND in our first CELEBRATION OF LEARNING! The World Map is much more difficult than the U.S. map that others schools have done. GREAT JOB!

    WORLD MAP UPDATE :-(
The blacktop was resurfaced during the summer. Unfortunately, nobody told us, (we would have suggested seal-coating around the map like other schools have done), and the world (map) has vanished. Fortunately, you can still view your work on this website.
